Currently, there are five species of rhinoceros that still left in the world, v ships where 2 of them are in Indonesia, the Javan rhinoceros (Rhinoceros sondaicus) and the Sumatran rhinoceros (Dicherorinus sumatrensis). Both rare and protected species is considered critically endangered in status (critically endangered species) by the IUCN Red List.
Javan rhino population v ships is only about 50 individuals remaining in the wild, the National Park Ujung Kulon (Banten) - with a small number of individuals, and only in one population v ships would be highly vulnerable to extinction. Sumatran rhinos living while only about 200 people, spread over Gunung Leuser National Park (Aceh), Bukit Barisan Selatan (Lampung), and Waykambas (Lampung).
Purwoto Anwar, v ships Forest Program Director, Terrestrial and Freshwater Species WWF-Indonesia, said, "Today there is an urgent need to reduce the pressure on the Sumatran rhino habitat and to immediately establish a second habitat for Javan rhino population in a proper and safe location.
Both are heavy duty which the Government requires the cooperation and support of stakeholders including experts, environmental organizations, and the public at large. Public participation is also expected to enhance the effectiveness of prevention efforts against poaching and illegal trade - particularly illegal rhino horn trade, and law enforcement. "
This event will be enlivened v ships with activity long march by 100 volunteers of WWF-Indonesia and the community Jumps Still, Parkour, Indonesian Rhino Forum, Teens Go Green, Green Transformation, and Magic Line, a group of students.
