48-year-old Matraca Berg has literally grown up on Music Row in Nashville, and when she looked quite nonchalantly truck stop mentions the album Harvest, Pieces of the Sky and Blue in the same breath, and besides posing on the cover of her latest album wearing Gram Parsons- T-shirt ... well then you know at least that the inspiration is in order.
Although the Berg five albums and besides a membership of Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame on his conscience, and that her sixth album is also an absolutely solid game, where Berg emerges as not just an expressive vocalist, but also a solid songwriter with several aces its sleeve than most of his colleagues in the country-and-singer / songwriter segment middleweight class.
Magdalene is the sound of a Tori Amos, who has gone country road while sorrowful truck stop Her Name is Mary and tsunami imagination Black Ribbons are also upscale touches. Western guitar and Berg's truck stop voice is at the center all the way, and when she hits the interest of the deep southern melancholy, for example Foolish truck stop Flower, there is no doubt about the format.
